Held last Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at The Greenbelt 5 Fashion Walk, was Bratpack’s What’s In Your Bag? event. Manila Design Week’s fashion night at GB5 was hands down my favorite among a weeklong of events. I got to meet some of my favorite bloggers & icons. I had four photoshoots for another faux modeling agency so I wasn’t really planning on going to the event since the shoot started at 11am & came 7pm, I was really tired and stressed. But I figured it was a once in a lifetime opportunity so I rushed to Greenbelt with my highschool friend Brent, together with his college friends Neil & Miguel. We took advantage of the free food & free flowing beer, lol. Then met-up with Aline. She was the first person who came into my mind when I decided to go to this event.
Twenty five of Manila’s icons revealed the innermost contents of their bags, in collaboration with some of our amazing photographers and graphic designers. I feel so stupid for not taking any photos of the exhibit. I guess I was too preoccupied checking people out, lol.
Got to hang out with my friends from THESDAPROJECT. Visit their amazing collaboration blog project (http://thesdaproject.blogspot.com/) & check out their personal blogs. These people are my inspiration!
Finally met these awesome bloggers! Nice meeting you guys! Congrats Gelo for winning the watch! Haha! Yes that’s Gelo, the guy wearing a skirt. Lol, we go to the same school, a sure head-turner! Visit their amazing blogs:
Another amazing blogger! I met Edrick through Multiply, we follow each other’s blogs and we finally got the chance to meet officially! Edrick helped me out with my Sims 3, layout, etc. Hahaha thanks man! Nice to finally meet you! Photo: With Edrick and friend Bea Guerrero. Check out his awesome blog:
I’m only posting this photo because it was taken by THE amazing amazing photographer Sir Revo Naval! First photo was taken while…I have no idea what I was doing. Second photo is so weird ‘cause I never remember holding Maxine’s hand, lol I guess I’m just naturally flirtatious. Kidding! Haha!
Got to meet the beautiful Tricia Gosingtian that night! She’s super nice & sweet! The first thing I said to her was ‘I love you’ hahaha how creepy am I, lol. Visit her more than awesome blog (lol joke I’m sure you always do).
Bloggers taking my photo, lol embarrassing. Sucks I wasn’t wearing my combat boots that day. I wore my comfy slip on shoes which I got from an ukay-ukay in Baguio! Regrets! Haha!
Saw Carlos Concepcion after the event! We went back after having froyo with Aline (off topic: Qoola’s strawberry banana frozen yogurt is insane). Anyway, it was awesome ‘cause he remembered me, lol! We follow each other on Twitter and I did a write up about him on my blog. Right now I’m doing an AV script for his store, Viktor Denim Republik. So stoked! Hope I could design for Viktor one day!
With my style icon Carlos Concepcion. He inspires me to present myself well, even if I’m not in the mood to dress up, just a white v-neck, black skinnies & combat boots would do the trick. But first I need the body…
Let me end this blog entry with photos of me “in action” hahaha! This is so embarrassing because in the first photo, I wasn’t aware that I smile when I take pictures! I guess it’s instinctive, lol. When I close my other eye, I smile instantly? Lol lemme try that in front of the mirror tomorrow. The second photo, ayayay. I leave my bag everywhere and I kneel and holy crap hahaha the things that I do to take beautiful pictures. You see? I hope you guys appreciate my effort, lol!
Photo credits: First photo taken by Rev Naval (a.k.a. Revolution), Second photo taken by THE SDA PROJECT team. Uhm thanks hahaha! Got the other photos from Lyka Orhel, Bjorn Bedayo, Paul Jatayna, Maxine Cadacio, Edrick Bruel, etc! Thank you!Epic night!
Right after Graphika Manila, my highschool buddy Brent & I headed to The Collective for Wall Lords, an international graffiti design competition. It started at 1pm and we got there at 9pm, wtf. Didn’t get to take photos of the works of the crews ‘cause it was too crowded and it was raining when we got there. That sucks. But congrats to PSP (I don’t know what it stands for lol) for winning! They will be representing the Philippines at the Wall Lords finals in Shanghai! Kick ass!
Met the beautiful superstar Saab Magalona that night! She’s so cute & badass at the same time, but mostly cute. Lol did that make sense?
Anyway, checked out awesome stores at The Collective. (Skitzo, Black Book, Hyesteric Wacko, Vinyl on Vinyl, etc.) The owner of Hysteric Wacko (store that sells Japanese streetwear) came up to me and asked me if I could take photos of his store and promote it on my blog, haha! At first I couldn’t understand what he was saying ‘cause of his accent, lol. So here ya go! I took photos of the store! Also got an awesome necklace for his store. Really nice!
Got to hang out with my friends Jhino, Bjorn & Paneng for a while. Nice meeting you Jhino! So Brent & I were waiting for Tara McPherson’s Live Art Jam at Vinyl on Vinyl Gallery ‘cause we really like her works, even brought my Moleskine with me haha (‘cause she doodles on every autograph, so cute haha). But succcks she was so late so we didn’t had the energy to wait any longer, lol. Stayed at the gallery for an hour and talked to the owner (feeling close haha) and took photos of Tara’s amazing works. Then we headed to another gallery & checked out really dope 3D artworks! When we got bored we went over to Wabi-Sabi to have late dinner but they only had pot stickers & calamansi juice so we took advantage of it, haha. Gonna come back there soon, definitely!
Thanks for the free flowing beer by Manila beer, huge lollipop art for the free unlimited lollipops (lol, lollipops), Sanuk for the php500 GC’s + more! Great night!
I attended Graphika Manila 2010, an international multimedia design conference held at SMX last August 7. Arrived a little late, sucks I missed the first speakers Arnold & Cynthia Arre. I was too lazy to take photos of the event ‘cause my friends & I were too preoccupied checkin’ out our seatmates haha! On our left was three fat (I can’t tell if they’re fat or buff lol) dudes playing with their puppy stufftoys, in different colors. Oh the irony! Hahaha! And to our left was a girl who looked like a turtle haha I’m not even kidding. I swear her neck can do wonders hahaha and she keeps talking to us, so much weirdness. Lol okay that’s mean and irrelevant haha I just wanted to share that. Anyway, my 1k was definitely worth it! Learned a lot from the speakers from Underground Logic, Phunk Studio, Danny Yount, Tara McPherson & Rocketsheep. Really inspiring! And I love the two canvas bags that they us! My gym shoes has a bag now haha! And the free book that showcases the collection of some of the great works by the speakers! Very inspiring indeed! Also met the speaker from Underground Logic, It was awesome ‘cause he was my favorite speaker and all of his works blew me away, lol. He said I should apply for an internship! I’ll definitely do it soon! Had fun! Till next year!
Photos during & after the convention:
Totally stole this photo from somewhere, lol. Couldn’t get a decent shot ‘cause we were too far. Hate being late haha
Bumped into Valerie Villaflor! We love layering so much, lol.
Ron & Valerie.
I don’t know why people were asking for his autograph, lol. I think he’s the speaker from Phunk Studio. He’s real fun.
Aakov Dy, half of Cloe Choa & Dana Ervite. Lol gotta love their names.
Obligatory outfit post. Lol loser, I’m still wearing my ‘delegate’ id haha
Cara Obligado & Vincent Igno. They always look mabango, haha!
With Ghie Gamboa, we call each other ‘love’ & flirts all the time hahahahaha!
With the speaker from Underground Logic. I will work for you soon! Or vice versa, lol!
What is sexy Sheila De la Cruz!!!
With college blockmates Patricia, Beryl, Syril, Melissa, Kat, Kym, Genieve & Redel.
With Pat Cruz & Janna Balasbas (?).
Gotta love FMA4!
Sheila De La Cruz, Janna Ericka Balasbas & Miguel Meris.
Ghie, Chris, Erwin & Ciara.
With Beryl, Ghie, Chris, Ciara & Erwin. We just took photos ‘cause I know we had no chance in winning the ipads that the speakers were giving away, lol.
Ron & Pat.
With Sy Bo!
Patricia Cruz what are you doing!
Aww. Haha they all went to the scholar’s fair after the event, I’m the only one who’s not a scholar (sad face), so I went to The Collective for the after party (different entry).
Happy first birthday to my Lookbook! Wow, it’s been a year & I only posted 36 looks? So that means out of 365 days, I was only fashionable 36 times. Hahaha is that right?
It’s amazing how I can keep track of my personal style via Lookbook.nu. So last year, apparently, I dress like a poor Jack Dawson from Titanic. Haha I have my lace-up oxfords, beanie & the thick-framed eyeglasses. Hahaha but this look, this first look got the most hypes & was featured at some blogs on Tumblr. Pretty cool! But what was I thinking? Hahaha!
First look posted (08/12/2009):
After one year (08/12/10):
So this is how I dress now. Distressed jeans, lots of denim, leather jacket, combat boots & with a mohawk cut to match. My preppy days are over (but uhh so weird I was preppy at the Manila Design Week’s fashion night last night, that’s gonna be in a nother blog entry haha). It’s awesome ‘cause I get inspiration the people on Lookbook & it’s amazing how it’s such a small community & we bump into each other at random events. So today it reached 4000 hypes & 550+ fans! Thank you so much! It’s nice to know 4000 people liked my looks, lol. I love how the people from Lookbook are always positive & shows lotsa lovin hahaha although I know I keep wearing the same outfits hahaha but no pressure! Just keep wearing what you think looks good on you & what you feel comfortable in (haha kidding I don’t think about comfort lol)
Modeled for Aryan Gojocco, Sheila Lee & Syril Bobadilla’s shoot for another faux modeling agency website. They also modeled as well, how awesome is that! Lol. The photoshoot’s at an underground parking lot & it has to look badass. Personally, this is one of the hardest shoots I ever did. Lol feeling professional. But seriously though, it was hot (obviously) & there were three photographers & different models but yeah basically it was just hot. Period. Got inspired by the denim jacket with leather sleeves look, got the vest from my dad, I DIY-ed it, also my jeans. Got the pants from People Are People then I used a potato peeler (???) to distress it. Looks pretty grunge & badass, I guess? Okay please don’t laugh at the poor modeling hahaha the directors were such a-holes telling us things like “don’t pull her hair”, “legs apart”, “nakatapak-ako-ng-tae-pose”, “mess up your hair”, “bakit pawis yang dibdib mo” and other crazy stuff that made me dizzy hahaha but I love them. Here are the photos (duh):
With model Syril Bobadilla (she had no idea she was gonna have a shoot that day, & I’m not even kidding, haha Sy just happens to look hot all the time, lol pay up!):
With model Sheila De la Cruz (who happens to be unprepared for the photoshoot also but she modeled anyway ‘cause we complement each other, hahaha is that right Sheila? Lol):
With Sheila Lee (the girl who was so bitchy ‘cause she keeps demanding for high heels ‘cause she said she feels super small beside me haha):
And now I introduce to you guys, Divine Dave:
Goofing around with the photographers and models after the photoshoot. This is my 'Cassie meets Joe Dirt' look, hahaha! Okay these photos pretty much destroyed the badassness (is there such word as badassness haha) of the whole photo set. My apologies. Had an awesome time with everyone! Thank you photographers! Good job!
So Student Style 2 was pretty successful (or so I thought haha). Got over four thousand views in a span of ten days. I started posting the features last Wednesday (August 4), not bad! (Lol redundant.) Also this was the first time I was ranked top blog #10 in Philippine Personal Blogs. So that was pretty awesome. All of these happened this week!
Here’s a tweet from Saab Magalona. I really enjoy reading all of her blog entries! And her dad was an icon! They’re like Lionel & Nicole Richie, lol. Got to meet Saab last Saturday at the Manila Design Week kickoff party at The Collective (different blog entry). She’s really nice and pretty!
This. How do I even begin. Well, if it isn’t obvious, I am in love (and obsessed lol) with Georgina Wilson. She’s my wallpaper, I have a folder on my laptop with all her pictures in it. I have a photo album on Facebook dedicated to her, hahaha etcetera! Anyway, I wasn’t expecting this tweet! It was so out of nowhere! I think Carlos Concepcion saw my blog entry about Georgina & told her how creepy I was, lol. Now I really feel pathetic, posting screencaps of tweets and stuff, lol.
And here is an awesome illustration by Josandwich. Hate what I’m wearing here but it’s so cool! Thank you so much! You got skillzzz! Haha!
Such a rewarding/fulfilling feeling (lol) to know that people appreciate the things that you do and gives you credit for it. Right now I’m planning to do a collaboration with a friend. We’ll do something like this and sell them. Not yet sure but is a Php300 shirt okay? Not pricey, right? Tell me what you guys think! Will post awesome-r stuff soon! THANK YOU!
I introduce to you guys, Student Style 2! Will be featuring students from De La Salle University, De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde, School of Design and Arts, Enderun, Ateneo, etc. This is just gonna be a fun fun thing, no pressure! After I finish featuring the ten models (see photo above), I will post five of their looks (Monday-Friday, depending on their schedule). All photos were taken by Ron de Leon. Awesome awesome photographer! And also my bestfriend, haha! Actually this is me doing a continuation of this. Some people have been sending me mails to do a part 2, so here it is! Don’t get mad if I can’t update this hahaha I’ll be busy next term! Watch out for Student Style 2! Soon!
So this photoshoot was really for a faux modeling agency but what the hell, I’m the one who set up the lights and edited the photos so might as well use them for something awesome (hopefully haha). Hahaha! Asked permission from the photographer and the models already. The official photos will be used for Student Style 2! Since I’ve been getting a lot of mails and submissions on my chat box about this project, well I figured I should do it haha and besides, I’m on my third year already and I don’t wanna regret anything when I graduate. Might as well do something productive & fulfilling while I’m still in college.
Six-hour photoshoot was very tiring. Had to change into five different outfits (Lorenz was the best dressed guy in the shoot lemme tell you haha, he brought five different shoes, pants, shorts, blazers, polos, etc haha ikaw na!) But we had fun! Kim brought brownies from Becky’s! Haha!
Don’t get weirded out if you see me wearing different outfits in every photo haha I had to take a break from the photoshoot and meet-up with awesome people, lol.
Some outtakes from the photoshoot. Didn’t know Elisa was taking photos of me during the shoot. Got so frustrated cuz I didn’t know how to take a video using a Canon dslr hahahaha or I think it couldn’t take vids??? Uhhh. I was planning to take behind-the-scene footages. Aww.
Finally met Bjorn (I kept saying Bee-jorn, didn’t know it was pronounced as Byorrrn lol) after two years! We follow each other’s blogs & now we finally got to hang out! So awesome to spend time w/ people you know you share the same interests with. Along with Lyka, Esme, Lorenz, Bryan & Monica. Nice meeting you guys! Just look at me, I look so trashy beside Bjorn. I have a plastic jacket & a sando on. To add up, I look like shit and my hair looked like it chose to sprout (sprout is the term lol) on one side of my head. I look like a black pineapple. ☹
Elisa visited the photoshoot with Camie & Ecks. Had a little photoshoot w/ her after my turn for the shoot.
This is me sitting like a boss sporting a mohawk. Badass. No I’m kidding, I hate my hair. I can never ever pull this off. I’m more of the low maintenance type of guy who smiles a lot, haha I don’t think I’m allowed to smile with this cut. Haha! Anyway, Elisa took photos of me for my feature on Click This or Die. Very flattering write-up about me! Thanks for the feature! Read here: Click
Obligatory outfit post by Elisa. Jeans + sneaks + white top + studded belt + jacket + transparent eyeglasses + heart necklace + rings.
Elisa and her new obsession, rings! (emphasis on the sssss) Like what I told her last night, "Tigilan mo na pamimili mo ng singsing! Sampu lang ang daliri! Di lahat kailangan lagyan!" (frustrated!!!).
Camwhoring (Wow, this is the first time I’m using that word). This was after our little photoshoot at an empty classroom, lol. Photobooth party time:
Elisa & Camie. (And some of Mabel & Kara during their shoot)
Me & Elisa. Lol at the croissant on my head, hahaha!
New found friends! Hahaha! ‘The’ Lyka Orhel & ‘The’ Lorenz Namalata (best dressed)! Hahaha! (Oh hi Mabel!)
With Annah, Ron, Vince and Antoy. Can you guys see Gerald Anderson in the photo hahaha! (Elisa can I have your transparent glasses!!!!)
With Kim, Mabel, Vince, Annah & Ron after the photoshoot. And it’s a wrap!!! This should be fun ‘cause there were no stylists in our shoot. So you guys would see our skills in styling ourselves (lol what). Haha will post the official photos soon!
So the 2nd year anniversary issue of Garage magazine is out today & lemme tell you how much I love it, haha! About the cover, all I can say is…thank God Diether Ocampo didn’t wore those tacky floral tight-fitting outfits that makes him look like a contestant in a ballroom show or something hahaha just sayin. I love the fact that the magazine featured clothes that are wearable & more importantly, affordable. The last issue that I got (Sonic Youth ish) featured designer jackets that cost php21,000 I think, whoa! Lol but what would you expect righttt haha! The Street Dapper Kings’ my favorite, hands down! Carlos Concepcion made it to this year’s crop of best dressed men! Along with Victor Basa, Andre Chang, Alvey Alfonso, etc. So awesome ‘cause Carlo’s my fashion icon & he follows me on Twitter (lol ok). It also marks the maiden issue Garage Girl which is free! Love the write-up about Megan Young & Sam Pinto’s personal style feature. Great great issue! Happy 2nd birthday, Garage!
