Boxfresh Brand Launch

Was invited to the launch of Boxfresh last night at Ronac Art Center & I was really excited to check out their stuff cuz I rarely get invited to events that showcase menswear only and clothes that fits my style. Went with my friends Ecks, Gerd & Jelito. I promise myself that this will be the last event I’m going to attend (for now) until I finish my thesis. But I was really happy I went cuz they got really awesome stuff! Very outdoorsy, rugged, utilitarian with a camper/lumberjack feel to it. Had a great time! Thanks Will Hsu for the invite! Boxfresh is available in all Bratpack & Res|Toe|Run outlets. Go check it out!

Boxfresh x Expedition

By elevating traditional streetwear to street fashion, Boxfresh has come up with inventive ways to make streetwear more wearable, even for the more finicky shopper. Its new collection carries the theme, “Expedition”, a reflection of the brand’s heritage outdoor inspired clothing which also represents the brand’s own streetwear roots. The look is rugged lumberjack – think wood cutter and utility with a Boxfresh style twist. Composed of woolen flannels with corduroy patches for a more vintage feel, Boxfresh’s latest collection also makes use of key silhouettes such as filled gillets, bomber jackets, flannel plaid shirts and chinos. Each season Boxfresh tries to constantly reinvent classic streetwear and give it a more modern approach, making it more suitable for today’s youth.

The Boxfresh Movement: Redefining Streetwear

Inspired by hip British street culture, Boxfresh is a refreshing take on popular streetwear and a fun addition to the continuously evolving street fashion especially in the local scene.

From selling imported work wear from a stall in Greenwich Market, Boxfresh founders have remained true to their independent ideals and beliefs which early on was quite shocking for some people. Through the influence of the UK music scene, which exploded back to life in the late ‘80s, Boxfresh was formally put up and has since then, been very supportive of the UK music industry launching various campaigns inspired by music and style icons.

This year, Boxfresh was proud to be the official fashion partner of the NME Awards held last February. As the official sponsor for the ‘Best New Band Award’, Boxfresh saw a natural fit for  creating wider awareness for the brand and supporting new music not just in the UK but around the world.

In the Philippines, Boxfresh is made available through the Primer Group of Companies. As the country’s premiere brand builder for lifestyle and outdoor brands it recognizes Boxfresh’s style edge when it comes to streetwear, most notably, its footwear collection. Here are my favorites:

image

AIDOS: Look rugged yet stylish with this masculine lace up utility boots. (PHP 6,990)

image

EAVIS-PERF: Step into a unique mid-cut design made of perforated suede upper that is light and comfortable. (PHP 4,290)

image

KHYKE 2: The look is rugged lumberjack, think wood cutter and utility with a Boxfresh twist. (PHP 6,290)

image

SWICH: Sleek and stylish, Swich is your casual midcut lace up boots with velcro strap to beef up your wardrobe. (PHP 4,790)

image

ZELOS: The look is rugged lumberjack, think wood cutter and utility with a Boxfresh twist. (PHP 6,990)

Save It For A Rainy Day

What I wore to the Boxfresh launch party at Ronac Art Center today (separate blog post). Manila’s weather is so bipolar these days & today it was rainy so instead of the usual earthy/dark-colored outfit, I opted to wear something bright. I usually don’t wear a lot of color but I really like the hue of the sweater! Thanks for taking my photos Jelito de Leon & Gerd Perez! Sorry for my wasted face by the way lol. Have a great weekend!

image

The turquoise sweater is my mom’s (is that weird?) and got the navy blue pants from Topman on sale. I tend to buy anything that’s blue haha. Hype this on lookbook here.

image

Got to take my new combat boots out! Got these steel-toe boots from Caterpillar and to be honest it’s not the comfiest shoes out there haha! But I’m getting the hang of it lol. The socks over the pants is a style trick that Boxfresh is very fond of! Wait for my next blog entry!

image

What I’m wearing: turquoise sweater (mom’s closet), navy blue pants (Topman), rucksack bag (Topman), combat boots (Caterpillar)

Artworks by Readers

I don’t know if it’s the rainy weather or I’m just being melodramatic but I’ve been feeling a bit down these past few days because of bad things that’s been happening and some people who are trying to bring me down. I should keep in mind to never let these people stop me from what I love doing and never let it dishearten me. I also realized that there are more people who are supportive and appreciates the things that I do. So thank you so much for all the support you’ve been giving to my blog. It’s a totally different world from my personal + school + work life and I’m very grateful that I get to experience these and share them with you. Here are artworks made by some very cool blog readers! Some are doodles, light paintings, vectors, even highlighters! They’re all so nice! Thank you so much for sending me these!

Again, thank you so much for all the support and I’m very blessed to have you guys. If the artwork belongs to you, please let me know so I could credit you on my blog.

It’s basically having two denim styles in one perfect-fitting chaps. It’s perfect for everyone cuz you can change your look from school to work to parties! All you got to do is flip it inside out! How cool is that! (Matutuwa pa ang labandera niyo! lol)

UAAP + Tech-On Seminar

Was invited again by De La Salle University together with Lissa Kahayon to do a talk about online marketing. I had to cut my 3D animation class for it but it was worth it! Although we weren’t informed that the audience will be from The College of Computer Studies so we focused more on fashion blogging rather than blogging in general, but I hope they were able to pick up something from our talk. Thanks to everyone who came!

image

Lissa & I were the only invited guest speakers for the Tech-On Blogging Seminar so it was extra nerve-wracking for us but I was happy Lissa was my co-speaker!

image

Didn’t expect there would be so many people! I almost peed my pants loljk

image

I talked about the importance of online marketing, the advantages and disadvantages of blogging & some techie stuff about Tumblr I know nothing about haha

image

Totally different crowd but I hope they were able to pick up something from my talk.

image

Getting judged by Lasallians…lol

image

Finally done with my talk! I can go back to being my jologs-self again hahaha

image

Lissa’s turn! Her talk was very inspiring. Such a beautiful person inside and out.

image

image

image

Open forum time (a.k.a. mental block time haha)

image

image

We were given our token/certificate of appreciation! Thanks for having us!

image

We had an awesome time! Thank you College of Computer Studies! It was great meeting everyone!

image

Thanks for having us, DLSU! Till the next one!

image

Zen Tea with Lissa after the seminar.

image

Lissa and my sister Chiqui. Thank you for being my photographer for the day!

image

Token of Appreciation: Cute La Salle centennial tumbler!

image

More DLSU stuff!

image

They also gave me this super cool lens mug! I’ve always wanted one! The organizers told me it’s perfect for me cuz I’m a photographer. Thank you so much!

image

How cool is this!!! So excited to put milo hahaha

image

Then we went straight to Araneta Coliseum to watch the DLSU vs UP game! Was able to witness La Salle’s first win this season (79-67) haha! Was planning to hide in the comfort room so we could watch NBA All Star Weekend cuz we didn’t have tickets!

image

Can’t go through a day without Gong Cha. I always end up ordering 2 drinks every time cuz I’m always undecided! You guys have to try their pearl tea with herbal/pearl jelly, milk wintermelon tea and lemon wintermelon tea! Really good!

image

Went to Rockwell with my fellow blogger friends Bjorn, Lissa (again haha) and Vern. We had a great time catching up! We were talking for hours haha we didn’t even notice the mall was about to close lol.

image

Had Burgoo’s Breaded Pork Chops! It’s really good!

image

Pretty ladies Lissa and Vern. Had a fun chill night with them + Bjorn! Let’s do this more often!

image

Had an awesome day. Hope you guys had a great weekend!

Smart Starter Plug-It

image

SMART just launched the Starter Plug-It, it’s actually the first and most affordable prepaid dongle for only freaking 995 pesos (one-time fee) + it’s pretty fast as well!

This is a great investment cuz for me, I seriously can’t go through a day without going online. That’s why I have to bring my laptop with me anywhere cuz I always need to check my emails for school/blog/work. Plus being a photographer, after a shoot, I edit the pictures right away then send ‘em to my client through the internet. In some instances I have to send them right away so sometimes I have to leech wifi from a mall or a coffee shop haha!

That’s why the SMART Starter Plug-It is perfect cuz it’s very affordable and easy to use (php10 for every 30 minutes) + with speed up to 2 mbps + preloaded with 1 hour (valid for 1 day) + you can go online anytime, anywhere cuz it has a nationwide coverage + reliable signal + it’s so small and clean and cute hahaha

Penshoppe Store Opening

Probably the earliest party I’ve ever been to, haha! Got invited to the Penshoppe store opening party today at SM North Edsa. I cut all my classes (sorry) today so I went home only to find out that my dad & sister didn’t go to work also hahaha! So I went to the gym, went home to change then went with my sister and some fellow bloggers to the opening party! I really had fun cuz I’ve been so busy with thesis and talks these past few weeks so I never got to attend any events this month so I was very happy I was able to attend today’s event, although I had to cut my classes haha! Thanks again Penshoppe! Here are some photos from the event:

image

The new Penshoppe store! It was an exclusive event from 10am-1pm. Penshoppe treated us for a shopping spree and served pizza, drinks, etc! Thank you Penshoppe!

image

Ed Westwick is everywhere! Haha those blazers are very Chuck Bass too! I especially like the navy blue one with the black collar. Will save up for it!

image

Penshoppe now has a lot of basics for guys which is awesome cuz I think every guy should buy these first then invest on some signature pieces that won’t make the look boring!

image

Penshoppe is famous for their crisp, nice-fitting jeans!

image

They have a lot of cool bags too! I got the brown backpack earlier!

image

Surrounded by beautiful girls Laureen Uy, Lissa Kahayon & Camille Co!

image

With Ana Gonzales, Lissa Kahayon and Honey Andrade.

image

Getting interviewed by a fellow blogger. Cool idea!

image

Laureen Uy. So cute!

image

With Honey. She’s leaving the country very soon! We’re all going to miss you!

image

Lissa’s soon-to-be-sister-in-law, Chiqui. Hahaha!

image

With Laureen, she was the one who told me to cut my class today. Hahaha! (Check out my annoying piercing eyes hahaha)

image

Lissa Guison Kahayon hahaha

image

Laureen Uy

image

Styling challenge! This is me cuffing the pants lol

image

Here’s the final product! Still used earthy colors such as navy blue, gray & brown for this look. We named it ‘Student Council President’ cuz we could picture a cool college guy wearing this. Like this look? Vote for our photo by clicking “like” on Penshoppe’s Facebook page HERE.

image

With my teammate, Mark!

image

Mark Lim and Chiqui Guison with our styled mannequin!

image

I styled my sister today. That would explain the aztec-print top and feather necklace haha!

image

With Laureen…and my eye bags.

image

With Lissa! We’ll be having a talk again about blogging this Saturday at DLSU! Come!

image

My first time to try Bon Chon chicken and it’s freaking delicious! Hate myself for trying it just now! Thank you Penshoppe for these haha (I know Rocel Roque was responsible for this!)

image

Thank you Penshoppe for the shopping spree! I was so busy styling the mannequin at the store so my sister took advantage and shopped for herself, haha kidding! (P.S. Got the brown jock jacket which Ed Westwick was wearing in one of the Penshoppe billboards lol)

image

Finally got a new pair of combat boots today!  My mom wouldn’t allow me to wear my Vagabond boots anymore cuz she thinks I overuse them. (I beg to disagree mother, lol)

Had fun today but now I have to lock myself in my room again and work on my thesis and prepare for my talks (about blogging, styling and basic photography). Will keep you guys posted about the final details! Shout out to Jad Deveza and Rocel Roque of Penshoppe! Thanks again!

Trouble in Havana

The weather’s crazy hot today so I opted to wear this comfy aztec-print shirt from Topman. I’ve been seeing this print everywhere and I don’t know any other way to wear it lol, will figure it out soon! You guys probably saw me wear this to my Aztec Empire shoot too!

image

Lazy day outfit again. Wore this to the Penshoppe store opening party earlier (different blog entry). Thanks to my sister for taking these photos! Hype this on lookbook here.

What I’m wearing: aztec print shirt (Topman), khaki pants (Topman), tribal bracelets (Eastwood Bazaar), brown bracelet (SM Accessories), aviators (SM Accessories)

Summer's Here to Stay

image

I really enjoy the warm weather Manila’s having these days! Sunny in the morning and a bit rainy in the afternoon! Today was a bit too hot though, wanted to jump in the pool!

image

Lazy day outfit. Just wore a simple button down, cargo pants, my trusty combat boots, grabbed my aviator shades and I was good to go! The shades are only Php99 from SM!

image

What I love about this outfit is that it’s so simple but the buttons and pockets make the look a little rugged/grunge. No detail shots cuz there aren’t any interesting details on this outfit lol. Hype this on lookbook here.

image

What I’m wearing: navy blue button down shirt (Topman), brown cargo pants (SM Department Store), brown bracelt (SM Department Store), printed socks (Topman), shoes (Vagabond), aviator shades (SM Accessories)

image

The inspiration.

DLSU Bloggers Congress

Last Wednesday (July 13) I was invited by De La Salle University + Office of the Vice President for Internal Affairs (University Student Government) to be one of the guest speakers for a seminar called Bloggers’ Congress. It was my first time to give a talk about my life as a blogger so I was quite nervous and excited! This was also the first time I didn’t bring my camera with me! I dunno why, guess I was too nervous to even care haha! Stole a bunch of photos from people (if you took the photo, please let me know so I can credit you).

This was such a big step for me cuz I never liked public speaking. Just the idea of being in front of an audience by myself made me so nervous, but if we wanna grow, we need to be out of our comfort zones and that’s what I did.

Thank you so much to DLSU for giving us this opportunity. To the very caring organizers and to everyone who came and supported the event! We hope you were able to pick up something from our talk!

image

Met up with Lissa after my 9-12 Typography class then we had milk tea at Zen Tea.

image

With Mikki. We were two hours early so we had a whole lotta time to spare!

image

Oh nothing to see here. Just standing beside THE Jason Magbanua!!! $@&#*^%!!!

image

With Lissa & Jerik (one of the organizers). Thanks for being very accommodating!

image

With Nicole (the smart and witty host! I love her!), Lissa, Jerik, Jill and Nina! Thanks Jonver for the photo!

image

With my co-speakers Jason Magbanua (film), Nina Fuentes (travel), Jill Bantang (food) and Lissa Kahayon (fashion)! It was great meeting you guys!

image

People! They were all very participative, they asked a lot of questions too!

image

Getting ready for our talk!

image

The first speaker was Jill Bantang of The Food Scout. I love her life! I’ve always wanted to be a food blogger! She was very lively and very humble as well.  I learned a lot from her!

image

The next speaker was Nina Fuentes of Just Wandering. She’s a travel blogger. She is living the life! Most of her trips (local and international) are sponsored! She gave great insights/tips too!

image

The third speaker was Lissa Kahayon of Scene Stealer. She talked about her life as a fashion blogger. I love her honesty and you would really see how committed she is! Good job, Lissa!

image

My turn! I was the second to the last speaker! I talked about my life as a blogger. The perks, the advantages, disadvantages and some tips as well. I was a bit nervous at first but I was happy I got to be my jologs-self again when I started being comfortable with the audience lol. I hope you guys were able to learn something from my talk!

image

Didn’t know there was gonna be an open forum but I’m loving my awkward hand gestures lol

image

We gave some styling tips to the audience. We brought some of our clothes as well.

image

There was a also a game wherein some people from the audience were tasked to style a look using clothes from Lissa & my wardrobe! Here are the winners! Good job guys!

image

Having a highschool musical moment with Lissa. We look like we’re singing a duet haha!

image

The last speaker was the very talented film videographer THE Jason Magbanua! This man really inspired me to be better at what I do. Plus, we were seatmates and he got my calling card! Haha I hope I can tag along to his shoots!!!

image

We were given our certificate of appreciation. So don’t hate, appreshhaaate! lol

image

Met some readers that day! Some of them even cut their classes for it! Thank you so much and it was really nice meeting you guys! But don’t cut your classes again haha

image

Lissa looks amazing as always!

image

Went to Zen Tea again with Lissa before heading home. I look so tired!!!

image

Mom, dad, look!!! lol

image

Thank you to the sponsors and to Sir Jason Magbanua for these goodies!

image

Coolest thing ever. A framed artwork made by The Event Project team! I love gifts that are personalized! You guys are too nice! Thank you so much!!!

image

Freebies from Liqud Bar, Manila Ocean Park! Thank you!

image

All the way from China! Thank you to wholesale-dress.net for sending these fun and interactive shirts haha! Will shoot an outfit post soon!

Again, thanks to everyone who came! It was great meeting each and everyone of you guys! Also, my next talk will be in DLSU again (July 23) then UST (August 7 or 9 I think) then UE (August). Will keep you guys posted! Thanks again!

Happy Camper

Had our field trip today in photography class! Field trips are always fun cuz you get to ride a bus + you know  your classmates will bring pringles and ice-cold water jugs, at least that’s what I thought. Only 8 people showed up! Apparently some college students are too cool for field trips, lol. I miss being a kid! Anyway this is my camper-inspired look:

image

This is similar to what I wore to the Forever 21 SM Makati Opening, but what I like about this look is that it has an earthy feel to it, in tagalog, lupa. Hahaha ok I don’t know what I’m saying anymore. Pair it with aviators to complete the look and for pogi points! lol

image

First time to wear carrot trousers with low-cut shoes cuz I think they look funny, but it doesn’t look so bad when paired with bright-colored socks. Also got these plimsolls from Topman! They’re so light and comfy!

image

What I’m wearing: woven khaki polo (Forever 21 Men), striped v-neck shirt (Forever 21 Men), khaki carrot trousers (Topman), blue socks (SM Department Store), bracelets(SM Department Store), navy blue plimsolls (Topman). Hype this on lookbook here.

Recharge and Revolt

It’s midterm week and I haven’t had a decent sleep since Monday. So I apologize for my wasted face as seen in these photos haha. Got so many things to do for school and work but tried to squeeze in a post so hopefully you guys like it! So inspired with anything brown or earthy right now! I call it shit-spiration! Haha anyway this is what I wore to school today:

image

My attempt to go for the neutral-monotone-utilitarian look. Hype this on lookbook here.

image

Addicted to printed socks! I buy anything that’s navy blue! It made this look less boring lol.

image

What I’m wearing: brown button-down (Topman), mustard rucksack (Topman), beige pants (Topman), navy blue anchor-print socks (Topman), black sneakers with brown leather details (Forever 21 Men), brown bracelets (Details)

image

Detail shot: mustard rucksack from Topman. So cool that I can bring this bag to work cuz I can put in my camera + other stuff for shoots and I’m good! So addicted to these kind of bags right now so please let me know where I could buy cuz I’m on the lookout!

image

Paired these navy blue anchor-print socks with these comfy black sneaks with brown leather detail which I got from Forever 21 Men. You guys can check out their stuff here.

image

The rio bird is judging me. Haha saw it outside the window at the 10th floor while shooting, so cool! I love my school, there’s always something new and interesting to see everyday!
