I am a self-confessed dog lover. Ever since I was a kid, I would nag my parents to buy me one. Dogs are really a man’s best friend! I’ve had five dogs my whole life (plus a rabbit, a goldfish, a duck and a hamster haha). Now I have Maximillian, a crossbreed of a beagle and a shih tzu. Since Maximillian’s cage is now too small for him, I make it a point to take him out for a walk every morning/night so he can stretch his legs.

Although I love bringing my dog with me in shoots, out of town trips, etc, he can be very impatient inside the car. I love that Ford thought of a pet safety seatbelt for our pets! Now bringing Maximillian won’t be much of a hassle anymore. Ford has a few tips on how you can keep your pet safe while traveling:

Pet Safety Travel Tip #1: Never keep your dog in your lap or the front seat. Keep your pets safe and secure in a well-ventilated carrier or secure your pet in a seatbelt attached to their harness.

Pet Safety Travel Tip #2: Your pet’s travel-feeding schedule should start with a light meal three to four hours prior to departure. Keep your pet hydrated. Plan for plenty of stops to walk your dog, and give em food and water!

Pet Safety Travel Tip #3: Never leave your dog alone in a parked vehicle during any season. This is very dangerous!

Pet Safety Travel Tip #4: Get your dog geared up for a long trip by taking him on a series of short drives first, gradually lengthening time spent in the car. This will get him comfortable and make your trip easier.

If you are a dog lover like me, get your furry friend his/her own pet safety belt—brought to you by Ford
