Although the heat in Manila is unbearable, I’m happy I live in a tropical country because I can take a 1-2 hour drive away from the city and go to the beach. Summer is my favorite season because I enjoy being under the sun and the days seem longer—do you agree? Anyway, I have to finish a lot of work before leaving again for another beach trip with my buddies this weekend!

Tank top from Cotton On | I know black attracts heat but I wanted this tank top so bad! Haha but to make it fair, I got it a size bigger so that it’s more loose—(more loose = more airflow).

Red cargo shorts from Baleno | Since it’s gonna be crazy hot for the next couple of months, I think I’ll be wearing this a lot! Available at SM Department Store.

Last month, I was asked to design a bag for Bicol-based brand, Mr. Kenkoy. Don’t you just love the brand name? It’s very Pinoy haha! Mr. Kengkoy bags are made from jute and woven by a community of mothers in Daraga town in Albay. I was able to meet them when I went to Bicol last month—I found out that the weaving community gets an average weekly salary of only 400 pesos. It breaks my heart because they’re getting less than they deserve. Weaving requires a lot of time, patience and concentration because it is delicate work. The design aesthetic and quality of the backpacks are on point! Now, all it needs is a little push. Will you help me? :)

I gave the weavers the freedom to do whatever they want with the design—I just requested if they could make it look like a rucksack + to provide padding for my laptop.
